Free MD CDL Tanker Vehicles Practice Test 2024
Interstate 495, also known as the Capital Beltway, surrounds Washington, D.C. and passes through parts of Maryland and Virginia. This beltway is one of the busiest and most important roadways in the country. Not only does it serve as a vital route for commuters, but it also connects with other major highways. Commercial drivers are familiar with every section of this famous road, often transited by heavy trucks.
As you join the traffic, it won’t take long to see a tanker. You’ll notice how it keeps a large distance from the vehicle in front, creating a long gap. Some drivers are tempted to enter or cross this gap without knowing it is a useful safety measure employed by the tanker driver. Tankers take longer to stop because their center of gravity is relatively high and constantly shifts as an effect of liquid surge.
In Maryland, anyone who wants to drive tankers must fully master this subject. You’ll need a Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement on your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and there are no shortcuts on how to get it. You must pass a written test that evaluates your knowledge of emergency protocols, the pre-trip inspection procedure, loading and unloading procedures, and driving techniques. You can take the written test either before or after you get your CDL.
If that’s a lot to take in, we recommend breaking this process into smaller steps. You’ll begin with the learning phase, where you’ll familiarize yourself with the information found in the official 2024 CDL manual (Maryland CDL Handbook 2024). While this resource is helpful for new drivers, some students find the material too difficult to study.
That’s why we offer a series of Tanker Endorsement practice tests specific to the state of Maryland. Each practice test consists of 20 questions and comes with several features. For your ease of use, we have introduced a voiceover option and the ability to change the font size. If the battery of your wireless mouse suddenly depletes during a session, you can use the “Shift + ?” key combination to display a list of keyboard shortcuts.
