Free Maryland CDL HazMat Practice Test 2024

From the Appalachian Mountains to the west to the Chesapeake Bay and flat plains to the east, you experience steep mountainous grades and metropolitan cities, seeing all sorts of sights in the great state of Maryland. We are delighted that you are considering adding the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement to your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). You obviously want to add marketability and a potential increase in earnings to your career. The Hazmat endorsement is the key to legally transporting materials that the U.S. government has deemed hazardous. The materials unlocked by the endorsement for transport range from explosives and certain types of fuel to industrial chemicals, radioactive materials and infectious substances. “Explosives?!” Yes, explosives! That’s why the most important objective of this endorsement process is to ensure safety.

The minimum age for the Hazmat endorsement in the Old Line State is 21 (this is true at the national level, per federal law). To add this endorsement, you’ll need to pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprinting and background check and the MVA knowledge test. The knowledge test covers federal regulations, substance handling, and other topics. Maryland’s knowledge test is made up of 30 questions and must be passed with a score of at least 80% (Maryland CDL Handbook 2024).

Let’s get back to the increased opportunities available. In Maryland, hazardous materials requiring a Hazmat endorsement include chemicals used in agriculture and manufacturing, gasoline, propane, hazardous waste, medical gasses (due to the state’s large healthcare industry), and materials associated with the chemical and defense industries. Companies you’ve heard of requiring the endorsement for many of their cargo hauls include Lockheed Martin (Bethesda), Marriott International (Bethesda), and Baltimore Gas and Electric. Amazing, huh? Now check out how we’ve eased the process.

We have specifically designed our online MVA Maryland CDL Hazmat Endorsement practice tests to resemble the official MVA test and avoid the overwhelming amount of information you’ll find online. Additionally, if you get an answer wrong, we provide an explanation immediately (instead of at the end of the test). First, apply for your fingerprinting and background check. This response can take weeks, so use that time to study with our practice tests. When the results are in, and you feel prepared, visit the MVA with the necessary documents, pay the fees, and take the test.

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
